Men’s Suits and Men’s Wear−Do and Don’t

Men’s Suits:

Do :

Dont:

  • Bright Suit colors

  • Fabrics that wrinkle easily

  • Prints or patterns that can be seen from a distance


Men’s Shirt

Do :

  • Long sleeves with men’s suits

  • 100% cotton or cotton blend

  • Solid, coordinating colors: white, cream, almond, pale blue

  • Sleeves should show 1/4 to 1/2 inch beyond jacket sleeves

  • 1/2-3/4 inch of shirt collar may show at back of neck


Don’t:


  • Short sleeved shirts

  • Shiny materials such as rayon or metallic

  • Extreme stripes or patterns


Men Suits Tie

Do :

  • 100% silk tie for classy look in men suits

  • Conservative solids, stripes or small patterns

  • Burgundy is an excellent color suitable with mostly any color of mans suits

  • 2 3/4- 3 1/2 inch wide

  • Tie should reach top of belt buckle.


Don’t:



  • Avoid more than three colors in a tie

  • Avoid cartoon characters or big prints on Tie.

  • No bow ties for business suits


Men’s Suits Accessories

Do :

  • With men’s suits, always wear a belt if suit pants have belt loops

  • One ring per hand

  • Remove all earrings and body jewelry

  • Wear a watch at all times


Don’t:

  • With men’s suits, avoid large flashy belt buckles

  • No hats or caps of any kind with men’s suits

  • Avoid jazzy jewelry in business meeting


Men’s Shoes

Do :

  • Smooth or soft grain leather for sober look

  • Black, dark brown or cordovan (burgundy) color shoes

  • Shoe color should match belt color in men’s suits


Don’t:

  • No loafers, other than traditional tassel

  • No noticeable treads on soles

  • Suede shoes, hikers, or boots


Men’s Socks

Do :

  • Cotton or cotton blend gives comfortable feel for long time

  • Match suit color, not shoe color

  • Solid socks are more preferable

  • Above calf in length


Don’t:


  • Avoid light colored socks with mans dark suit.

  • While dressing men’s suit, avoid bold designs
